Top leaders seek 3 to 5 days for consensus


KATHMANDU, DEC 18 -

Top leader of the major political parties on Tuesday urged the president to extend the deadline to pick a common prime ministerial candidate by three to five more days.

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and leaders of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha had reached President Ram Baran Yadav's official residence in Sheetal Niwas this morning. The fourth deadline given by the president to pick a common PM candidate ended on Monday.

Leaders said that the president in response urged the political parties to arrive at the consensus at the earliest.
