Elderly couple killed in elephant attack

CHITWAN, DEC 16 -

An elderly couple was killed at Madi in Chitwan district when wild elephants attacked them on Saturday night.

Buddhi Ram Bote, 65, and his 60-year-old wife Jariya Bote were tramped to death at about 11 pm while they were sleeping at their home. Police said that Buddhi died on the spot while her wife breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan.

The elephants had entered the village from the Chitwan National Park in search of food, police said.
