'Virtuous leaders surrendered before revisionists'
POKHARA, DEC 16 - CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya has said there is no alternative to revolt if "people's constitution" could not be delivered by resolving the political deadlock. He said the revolt is not a desire but obligation and armed struggle is the last resort.
Inaugurating a convention of the party's Tamuwan State Committee here in Pokhara on Sunday, Baidya said his party cannot accept the constitution if it is not drafted in favour of people.
He informed that discussions are being held on a document prepared by him for the party general convention. He, however, said that the document has not concluded about the party's future strategy--whether to adopt people's revolt or people's movement.
Baidya further alleged that the "so-called virtuous" leaders betrayed the party by surrendering before the revisionists while the people's war was inching closer to success.
Leader Baidya, who split from the UCPN (Maoist) this year, said he could not stay together with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai for they betrayed him and people.
Stating that "people's war" was not launched to make some body the prime minister but for the emancipation of the people, Baidya said his party was formed by severing ties with the opportunist and and neo-revisionist.
