Vasant Panchami (Nepaliवसन्त पञ्चमी Hindi: वसन्त पञ्चमी), sometimes referred to asSaraswati Puja (Bengali language:সরস০বতী পূজা), Shree Panchami, or the Basant Festival of Kites is a Sikh and Hindu festivalheld on the fifth day of Magha (in early February) marking the start of spring and theHoli season. On this day Hindus worshipSaraswati Devi, the goddess of knowledge, music, art and culture.

For Sikhs, in the Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar, on the day of Vasant Panchmi, musicians start the music by singing Basant Raga. This practice continues up until the first day of Vaisakh when Basant Rag is no longer used.
